Think Positively?

Haven’t you heard or been told that you’ve got to think positive? Well, how in h... can you do that with what’s going on in the world? Think of it (but I’d rather you didn’t) crime, war, global warming, wildfires, disappearing species, crooked politicians, child endangerment automatic weapon shootings in schools and public places, disappearing animal species...I could go on.

I follow a spiritual path called The Law of Attraction. People of no religion and all religions follow it.

The abbreviation is LOA. It teaches that everything has a positive side and a negative one. It’s like the weather: warm, cold...sunny, rainy...humid, dry...windy, calm. Depending on your perspective you find one or the other better.

What I do is not watch the news. LOA also teaches to see what we want to see. Notice the beauty of your surroundings. Where I live there are friendly and helpful people. I have great interactions with them. That’s because of my perspective, or, you could say, beliefs. Some where I live think that they have no privacy…that we put our noses where they don’t belong.

Belief…now that’s an important word: A belief is just a thought you continuingly think. A BELIEF CAN BE CHANGED!  Just change your thoughts!

It’s also necessary to realize that each person has their own beliefs. They could be the like yours or not. Just accept it. My mama used to say that I would never win an argument because the other person and me would both believe we were right.  She also said, “Everybody to their own taste said the old lady who kissed her cow.”

When you alter your beliefs and see the world around you as you would like it to be, your life will be happier.

That’s another practice I have adopted from LOA. When I wake up in the morning, I spend some time cuddling under the covers, realizing how great it feels, what I have to look forward to that day, etc. LOA says that even 16 seconds of good thoughts when you first awaken will cause you to have a great day all day. Try it for a few days. Let me know how it works for you.

With practice one can learn to control their thoughts. LOA teaches us about our emotions. When we feel a negative emotion…one that makes us feel bad…that is telling us our guidance thinks differently. You say something that hurts someone without meaning to. When you discover it was hurtful, you feel guilty. That guilty feeling is terrible. Your guidance is telling you not to feel guilt. It’s negative. That is just an example. You could, of course, still apologize.

Here is a handout of the Law of Attraction’s Emotional Guidance System. If you are experiencing feeling on the upper half of the chart, you are doing well. If you are feeling something on the bottom half, try to think of something to move you to a better feeling emotion.
