Ask and Ye Shall Receivre
“Ask and ye shall receive.”
You have heard this phrase before. It's from the Bible, but
it has the same teaching in every holy book from every religion.
How do we ask? It's not just like a child's prayer,
"God, take care of mama and daddy and have Santa put a bike under the tree
for me."
We ask by what we focus on!
Haven’t you met what lots of folks call a worry wart? They
always have something new to worry about!
How about a person that lights up the room when they enter?
They’re a glass half full type. Always seeing the good in their surroundings.
Guess what? They find even more good.
Let me tell you a some of stories...one is very positive
and two are not. They're from my life and how I learned about the Law of
Attraction.
After extensive fertility testing, my husband and I adopted
a perfect baby boy.
When he was two, we decided we didn't want him to be an only child. All the newborns were being adopted by couples who had no kids yet, we were getting older and were having trouble finding another baby. I found a photo in a magazine of what I wanted: A precious blond baby girl in a pretty pink dress. She was smiling and holding on to a ball. I cut that picture out and hung it on the refrigerator. We all walked by it several times each day.
The Christmas holiday approaching, I took a part time job.
I began to feel nauseated and had other symptoms. My boss, who had become a
friend, said, "If I didn't know you couldn't have kids, I'd think you were
pregnant." Guess what? I was!
Seven months later the precious baby girl came off the fridge and into our
lives.
Following
her were two more boys! We wouldn't trade any of them for anything.
Years later, I found a lump near the tip of my breast. When
showing it to my doctor, I was told to get a mammogram...I was overdue for one.
I was told by the radiologist "It's just a cyst. It will go away."
Did I believe him? No! I researched every kind of breast cancer, the stages, the
symptoms, the surgeries, everything about it. I prayed, I spoke to others, I
focused on breast cancer. The lump grew! Six months later, my doctor said it
needed a biopsy. Of course it was cancer. I had surgery and was in recovery for
five years before they said I was cancer free. No photos here, but I lost my
favorite nipple, and it was my own fault!
The latest story…I was congratulating myself on being the
only person in my apartment building that hadn’t caught covid…maybe the only
person in Faribault. The Universe said, “Oh, you want some? Here it is!” That’s
what I had focused on, and that’s what I got!
The moral of these stories should be obvious: focus on the
positive, what you want and what you love and appreciate, not what you
currently have or think you have.
I’d like to know if you have stories of what you have
attracted into your life. Let's share! I am passing out sheets of paper. On one
side please write something positive that came to you because of your focus. On
the other side write at least one that is negative. Then we will exchange
papers and share a few of our stories. You do not need to write your name on
these sheets. This isn’t a regular school!
