Virtual Reality

Image
This is not a game, but it may seem like one. You can do it almost anywhere and any time. At first, though, it may be easier to be in a place you are comfortable and undisturbed. Think of yourself where you want to be more than anything: in a new home, in a better job, with the love of your life  on a dessert island even. Look like yourself even better than you see yourself now. Wear what you like to wear, be who you want to be with. See the weather, the flora and fauna.  Be doing what you want to do and interacting with the people (and animals) you'd  like to interact with. Smell the odors, feel the temperature of the air, the breeze if there is one. Make this scenario in your head as real as you can make it.  Let it continue for a few minutes as long as you are comfortable...then LET IT GO. Do not dwell on it, just continue your life. Engage in this virtual reality every day or so. Don't try to MAKE something happen, just enjoy. After awhile you will be asto...

I Judge People, Do You?

Image
I am trying not to judge...it is difficult for me. I have believed even before I studied A Course in Miracles and the Law of Attraction, that in any moment in time, people do what they feel they must do. Maybe it's because of their beliefs, their upbringing, their environment, who knows. But if we, and others, do the only thing we feel we must do, how can blame for anything be assigned? And who am I to judge other people, anyway. I know we have different beliefs, different perspectives. So if my judgement is due to their outfit, to how they destroy the English language when they speak, to the fact they don't recycle correctly, or an action they take ,it doesn't matter. They probably judge some of the same things in me. As far as that last sentence goes, I don't really care about other people's opinions of me. That's something I learned from the Law of Attraction. I hope I am making sense here. Sometimes I think I confuse myself.  I have not believed in Hell fo...

What's your Choice?

Do you want to be happy? You can FEEL happy... think of something you love. Do you want to see beautiful things? The more of them you notice, the more you will see! Do you want more money? Don't notice its absence. Buy what you need while assuring yourself you will have more money when you need it. Do you want or need help? Be helpful to other people when you can. Do you want more friends? My mama taught me, "To have a friend, you must be a friend." Do you want freedom? Acknowledge the ways you are free already. Do you want more love in your life? There are so many things to love...the beauty of the sky, the trees, the little animals, flowers, your pet, Facebook, the internet, your television shows, of course your family. Do you want a better job? Without quitting the one you have, notice what is positive about the job you have. Is it close to home? Have you made friends at your workplace? Are you good at what you do?  I assure you, my friends...whatever you want you  c...

Fight or Fright?

Image
Actually, possibly both. My mama used to say that arguing is never worth it. Both parties believe they're right. They are just trying to convince the other person, and it never works. The same goes for arguing political parties and even countries. You know by now that I follow The Law of Attraction. That teaches that 'fighting against' anything just brings more things you want to fight against.  That's just like what you focus your attention on is what you get. Mother Theresa said it best. She once was asked to join in a march against the Vietnam war. Mother Theresa responded, "I was once asked why I don't participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro peace rally, I'll be there." We all have our own beliefs and perspectives. We know we are correct FOR OUTSELVES. Let other people continue according to their choices.

S'mores

Image
If you have read any of my blogs or visited mamaswisdom on Facebook, you know I follow the wisdom of the Law of Attraction. It teaches a concepts called co-operative components. We help each other achieve our goals. It also says on of the reasons we are here is to experience JOY! I regularly receive messages, ideas and inspiration. They come from 'somewhere out there'. Our apartment manager told me Friday that she, her husband, her daughter and friend we going to the cabin. She emphasized how nice it was in the evenings sitting around the campfire making and eating s'mores. (This is the idea I was given) I said, "Before you assemble your 's'more, spread a think layer of peanut butter on each cracker." Monday she said that it was the greatest life hack ever! They all enjoyed it and would never make s'mores any other way. Later that day I was in a friend's apartment. She had someone there already. I told her about giving Sam my idea for the s'mor...

Trouble Speaking in a Group?

Image
Mama was in Toastmasters International for over 20 years. The first time I showed up at a meeting, I was terrified. Most of us are called upon to speak in a group setting, be it a team meeting at work, church, a club meeting or even a toast at a special occasion. Here are some easy tips for beginners to keep in mind. If you have a chance, practice what you are going to say.  Notes are okay, but please do not read your speech. No one wants to see you with your head bowed looking at the content of your speech. If you need a moment to remember the next line...SHUT YOUR MOUTH. Please don't use "fillers" like umm, er...so...and... Relax! Your audience is on your side. They want to hear what you have to say. When you complete your talk, don't say, "Thank You." Your audience should be thanking you! Hopefully you will get lots of applause. You can visit Toastmasters.org to find a club near you. Learn, make new friends and have fun.  Cheers!

Ask and Ye Shall Receivre

Image
“Ask and ye shall receive.” You have heard this phrase before. It's from the Bible, but it has the same teaching in every holy book from every religion. How do we ask? It's not just like a child's prayer, "God, take care of mama and daddy and have Santa put a bike under the tree for me." We ask by what we focus on! Haven’t you met what lots of folks call a worry wart? They always have something new to worry about! How about a person that lights up the room when they enter? They’re a glass half full type. Always seeing the good in their surroundings. Guess what? They find even more good. Let me tell you a some of stories...one is very positive and two are not. They're from my life and how I learned about the Law of Attraction. After extensive fertility testing, my husband and I adopted a perfect baby boy. When he was two, we decided we didn't want him to be an only child. All the newborns were being adopted by couples who had no kids yet, we...
